If you have bought a replacement battery. Now, proceed with the instructions for changing a car battery.  

  • The first step is to ensure that the vehicle is not moving. 
  • Put the vehicle in park and apply the emergency brake. 
  • Place a wheel chock or wooden block behind the vehicle’s tyres if it is on an incline. If the car is in a garage, keep the garage door open. 

How to Change a Car Battery 

A wrench to loosen the cables, gloves, and petroleum jelly to spread on the terminal before installing the new battery are the only tools needed to change a car battery.

How to Remove a Car Battery 

  • Take the battery hold-down clamp off. 
  • First, use a wrench to disconnect the negative cable. 
  • Remove the positive cable. 
  • Lift the battery out using the strap, but be cautious of any leaks because battery acid is hazardous.

How to Install a Car Battery 

  • Before using your new battery, check to see if it needs to be charged. When you buy most batteries, they are at least 75% charged. 
  • Replace the old battery with the new one. 
  • Attach the hold-down clamp 
  • Apply petroleum jelly to the battery terminals to slow corrosion.  
  • Connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
